Rosemary Atzenhoefer was born on April 30, 1940, to Moritz and Leona (Servais) Grunert in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was baptized in the Catholic Church and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont after her marriage to Erwin, a faith that remained central throughout her life. Rosemary graduated from Fairmont High School. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper, bringing care and attention to everything she did. Her career began at F.W. Woolworths, continued at Erickson’s Furniture, and later at JC Penney, where she stayed until retiring in 2002. Rosemary valued her work and the friendships that came with it.
On September 1, 1962, she married the love of her life, Erwin Atzenhoefer, in Fort Carson, Colorado. They were blessed with four children - Gail, Jessica, Michael, and Dale. The couple made their first home in Welcome before moving to a farm near Trimont in 1983.
Rosemary was active in her church and community. She served as church secretary at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome, was part of the quilting group, and held many roles at the Waverly Church. She also led the Altar Guild and served as treasurer of the Ladies Aid. Quilting brought her real joy - she loved both the craft and the companionship of quilting with friends. Rosemary was actively involved with her children’s activities, acting as a 4H leader, Girl Scout Leader, and grade school softball coach.
