LAKEFIELD - Robert E. "Bob" Anderson, age 94, of Lakefield, and formerly of Dunnell and Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Colonial Manor - Nursing Home in Lakefield.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Bob at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, (317 S. Main St, Sherburn, MN 56171) with Pastor Steve Wilson and Pastor Jeff Hagen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bob will be buried at the Lake Fremont Cemetery in rural Dunnell, next to his loving wife of 72 years, Lois.
The Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center of Trimont, Sherburn, and Welcome is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert E. “Bob” Anderson was born on December 1, 1930, to Walter and Anna (Hummel) Anderson on the family farm in Lake Fremont Township, Dunnell, MN. He was baptized on February 21, 1931, and confirmed on July 1, 1945, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. Robert attended school through the 8th grade in Dunnell, and graduated with the Sherburn-Dunnell high school class of 1948.
In 1947, Robert met Lois Westcott at the roller-skating rink in Sherburn. He loved her immediately. On December 5, 1948, Robert and Lois were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Fairmont for two years before moving to rural Dunnell. Robert and Lois welcomed their daughter, Sheryl, in 1949. Together, they faithfully farmed their land in Lake Fremont Township. They retired from farming in 2005, remaining on the farm until 2013 when they moved to the Village Cooperative in Fairmont. After Lois’ passing in 2021, Robert moved to Lakefield to be near his daughter.
Robert and Lois treasured time with their family, providing an example of dedication and faithfulness.
Robert served on the Lake Fremont Township Board for many years. He was also a member of the Lake Fremont Cemetery Board and the Midland Co-op Board. Robert was always active in his church community. He served on the church council and taught Sunday School while he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. Bob was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn at the time of his death.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Hanson of Lakefield, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Tim (Ramona) Hanson of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Ann (Brad) Henning of rural Jackson, Minnesota, and Nathan (Miriam) Hanson; seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Henning, Samantha Henning and Isabelle Henning, Cassandra Hanson and Lindsey Hanson, Dalton Hanson and Nolan Hanson; brother, Norman (Myrna) Anderson of rural Dunnell, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Mary Westcott of Fairmont, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Lois; parents, Walter and Anna; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Ada Westcott; brothers-in-law, Orville, Lester, and Tom Westcott; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Kilmer, Violet Censky, Mary Kerg, Gladys Sinsel, Velma Roalson, and Doris Briggs; and other relatives.
