Mildred “Millie” M. (Madsen) Wohlhuter, age 95, of Fairmont, MN, and formerly of Welcome, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.

Mildred Marie “Millie” (Madsen) Wohlhuter was born on October 30, 1929, in East Chain Township, Minnesota, to Peter and Myrtle (Anderson) Madsen. She was baptized and later confirmed in her faith on August 27, 1944, at East Chain Lutheran Church.

Millie attended school in East Chain and graduated from high school on May 29, 1947. Following graduation, she worked for three years at the Welcome State Bank. On September 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lowell Wohlhuter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Together, Millie and Lowell farmed in Fox Lake Township, where they raised their two children, Roxann and Greg. In 1984, they moved from the farm into Welcome, and in 2013, they moved to Goldfinch Assisted Living in Fairmont. They lived there together until Lowell’s passing in 2017. Millie remained in Goldfinch until she moved to the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in April of 2025.

Millie’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved visits with them and especially enjoyed attending their sporting events, concerts, Fourth of July picnics, and other special gatherings. Always by her side was a Dr Pepper—her favorite treat and a small, sweet detail her loved ones will never forget.

Millie was a devoted and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. She faithfully served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years. Her leadership included roles as President of TWELCA, Chair of Circle, and Chair of the Altar Guild, along with many other positions throughout the years. Her dedication to her church community was an important part of her life and legacy.

Millie is survived by her son, Greg (Lisa) Wohlhuter; son-in-law, Denny Hample; four grandchildren, Alison (Kris) Lien, Brian (Tracy) Wohlhuter, Ryan (Lindsay) Hample, and Sarah (Jason) Price; ten great-grandchildren, Harper and Beckett Lien, Emmett, Ethan, and Emerson Hample, Isaac and Alex Wohlhuter, Zachary, Lucas and Joshua Price; sister, Violet Farm; bonus daughter-in-law, Rita Sagehorn; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; daughter, Roxann Hample; great-grandson, Owen Price; parents, Peter and Myrtle (Anderson) Madsen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oscar and Erna (Ebeling) Wohlhuter; brothers, Dickie Madsen and Melvin (Dorothy) Madsen; brother-in-law, Elmer Farm; sister-in-law, Marian (Gary) Schwieger; and other relatives and friends.

Millie’s family would like to thank the staff at Goldfinch for the excellent care and friendship that she received for 12 years, and also for the compassionate care from the Lakeview Methodist staff for her short time there.
