Michael Eldon “Mike” Bettin was born on January 8, 1953, to Eldon and Joan (Clemmensen) Bettin in Triumph, Minnesota. He spent his early childhood in Trimont, where he attended school and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. The family later moved to Jackson, and Mike graduated from Jackson High School with the Class of 1971. Mike was united in marriage to Debra Mohlenbrock on October 19, 1974, and together they raised one son, Jesse.
Mike was a former member of the Freedom Riders and the Mountain Lake Golf Course. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing golf, fishing - despite being allergic to fish - and spending time with good friends. One of his favorite places was the family lake lot, where he loved to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Mike had a passion for woodworking and took great pride in his craftsmanship. He worked for Watonwan Enterprises in Mountain Lake for many years and remained dedicated to his work until his health no longer allowed him to continue.
Mike was a fan of western movies and made it well known that they were not to be turned off once they were on. He was always willing to help others and never expected anything in return. Mike was known for his unique and funny sense of humor and he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and love of life.
Mike will forever be remembered by his son, Jesse (Angel) Bettin of Sherburn, Minnesota, grandchildren, Cody (Angelica) and Tanner (Jocelyn); great-grandchildren, Aspen, Dani, and Oakley; brothers, Brian (Pat) Bettin of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and Ross (Cindy) Bettin of Sherburn, Minnesota; former wife, Debra Miller; and other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Joan; brother, Joseph Bettin; and other relatives and friends.
