STILLWATER - Jonathan David Berg, age 61, of Stillwater, MN, passed away on September 9, 2026.

Jonathan was born in Menominee, Michigan on June 8th, 1965 to Dr. Donald and Mary Berg. Jonathan graduated from Superior Senior High School and attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he met the love of his life, Ellie Dunlavey. Jonathan graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a degree in History and Political Science.

Jonathan deeply loved his family. They were his touchstone. His granddaughters in particular brought him much joy. Jonathan had the same charismatic personality as his mom. People gravitated towards his warmth and humor and felt seen when they were with him.

His cooking ability was legendary. It’s hard to pick the favorite dish, but his rice pudding, mashed potatoes, Swedish pancakes and smoked salmon were always consumed with lip smacking happiness.

Jonathan was a can-do guy who could fix or remodel just about anything. Once he was done, he always had a hilarious monologue about the process.

It made him so happy to make Ellie laugh. She was his best audience. He gave her his humor and she warmed him with the music of her laughter.

Jonathan is survived by his wife, Ellie; daughter, Estee (Beau Bachman) Berg; son, Geoffrey (fiancée, Ashley Shoe) Berg; granddaughters, Clara and Logan Bachman; as well as his siblings, Scott, Laurie, Lynnae, Geoffrey, and Kristin; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
