David was born to Ervin and Eva (Ek) Olson in Fairmont, MN, on March 1, 1942. On February 9, 1968, he was united in marriage to Karen Stockdill in Fairmont, and together they built a wonderful life and were blessed with three children, Brian, Pamela, and Angela.
Those who knew Pinky will always remember his gift of storytelling. He had a story for everything, and whether he was sharing one from his Army days or a funny moment from everyday life, people loved listening to him. His sense of humor and kind heart made him a friend to all.
Pinky was proud to have served his country in the United States Army from 1961–1963. After returning home, he worked at the MIC plant in St. James from 1964-1968 before taking a job at the Skelly Station in Trimont in 1968, eventually purchasing the station in 1974 with his brother, Richard. In 1982, he became a rural mail carrier for the Trimont Postal Service, until his retirement in 2009.
Pinky was a member of First Lutheran Church in Trimont, and through the years was active in the Trimont Ambulance and Fire Departments, the Trimont Conservation Club, and the Trimont American Legion. In his younger years, he played and coached baseball. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and canning pickles, but his greatest joy of all was spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness.
David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen; his children, Brian (Amanda), Pamela (Joe), and Angela (Taylor); grandchildren; Brianna, Jake (Courtney), Jaya, and Colson; step-grandchildren, Alayna, Andrew, and Luke; brothers-in-law, Jack Bursell, and Dale Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathy Anderson and Carol Bursell; brother, Richard (Joan) Olson; sister-in-law, Judy (Swede) Pierce; brother-in-law, Jim (Pat) Stockdill; niece, Lori Sue Olson; nephew, Justin Bursell; and his favorite dog, Rover.
