Bruce Robert Whitman was born on October 8, 1957, to Lawrence and Maxine (Schock) Whitman in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm outside of East Chain and graduated from East Chain High School with the class of 1976. Following high school, Bruce continued his education in Waseca, where he also played college football.
On December 17, 1977, Bruce was united in marriage to Tami Tilbury at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Cassie, Megan, and Lindsey.
Bruce was a former member of the Fairmont Trap Club and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, woodworking, and rock hounding. Over the years, he also raised hogs and took pride in his work on the farm. Bruce loved puzzles, sports, collecting, and was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan. Family trips up north were especially meaningful to him, and he delighted in sharing the many stories that came from those vacations.
Bruce was known for his quick wit and sense of humor and could always make others laugh. He will always be remembered as someone who enjoyed life fully, loved his family, and brought joy to those around him.
Bruce will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 48 years, Tami; daughters, Cassie (Ben) Becker, Megan (JD) Goraczkowski, and Lindsey (Brad) Becker; grandchildren, Macey and Cohl Becker, Jackson and Kinsley Goraczkowski, and Lylah, Cash, and Lawsen Becker; brother, Roger (Sue) Whitman; sister, Rhonda (Donnie) Rudolph; mother-in-law, Janice Tilbury; sisters-in-law, Vicki Bentz and Danette (Mark) Fornshell; brothers-in-law, Rick (R’Lene) Tilbury, Rodney Tilbury, Tim (Steph) Tilbury, and Jason (Angela) Tilbury; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Maxine; and father-in-law, Lowell Tilbury.
